Big feelings are a natural part of growing up, and at our daycare, we support children in understanding and managing their emotions with care and compassion.
Recognizing and Naming Emotions
We regularly talk with children about feelings and help them put names to what they’re experiencing. Instead of simply saying “stop crying,” we might say, “It looks like you’re feeling frustrated—can you tell me what happened?” This helps children feel seen and supported.
Tools for Calming Down
To support emotional regulation, we use calm-down corners, sensory tools, and simple breathing exercises. These tools help children learn that it’s okay to feel upset—and that they can also find ways to feel better.
Daily Practice Makes Progress
We include social-emotional learning in our daily routines, using stories, puppets, and group discussions to explore emotions and coping skills. This daily exposure gives children the confidence to handle big feelings in healthy ways.
Building Resilience One Day at a Time
Over time, our children become more aware of their emotions and more capable of managing them. It’s all part of growing into resilient, emotionally intelligent individuals—and we’re honored to guide them on that path.
